Cound Trout Fishery

Cound Trout fishery was founded in 1994 (4 miles south of Shrewsbury) to cater for Shropshire fly fisherman. This old sand and gravel pit of 26 acres is fed by an underground spring with depths of up to 65 ft. The water is crystal clear all year round and produces some tremendous fishing; there are 13 boats with another 7 to follow and a mile of bank fishing with many staging and clear banks to fish from. The Trout lake is stocked every week to maintain its 6500 fish from 1 1/2 to 20 lb +, there are six different species of fish. To our knowledge, there is no other Trout Fishery in the country which has the same to offer. Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Blues, Brookies, Tigers and Arctic Char. Cound Trout fishery have a large fish policy of 100 Double’s which is maintained by our own Trout Farm at Burwarton (which boasts some of the finest fish in the country).
